I came to The Luxe for the first time last night and just wanted to drop you a line and say how much I loved it!  I used to live in Wisbech and now live in Peterborough, but will be driving to see films with you instead of going to the Showcase over here in the future.  Everything from the seating, to the decor, to the lovely little bar and snacks was perfect.  And an interval! Just like there used to be when I was a kid! Keep it up, I'll definitely be back, and will be recommending you to my friends too. If I lived a little closer I'd be offering to work for you in my spare time!

I attended your cinema yesterday to see The King's Speech, however i found it  completly odd that there was an interval during the film, for me and others  around as it was discussed it completly ruined the enjoyment of the film and  would most certainly put me off coming to your cinema again knowing that this  might happen, which is a shame because the appearance and feel of the cinema  is lovely.  Can you tell me if there is a reason for this?
Look forward to hearing from you

Dear Gill

Thanks for coming to The Luxe to see the film The King's Speech.
On the view of intermissions, it is something we been doing for 2 yrs since we open with Dean Spanley and Slumdog Millionare. The reason for this is simple, we can not put all the film on to one reel. So the intermission allows us to rewind the first reel and then re-lace the second reel. If the film is 2 hours or more in total length with adverts and trailers then it has to be split into two reels.
I must say about 80% of our customers like the intermission as they are in a natural break in the film, usually after reel 3 or reel 4 depending how many reels the film is on. Australia was 10 reels.  In the King's Speech case, this was on 7 reels. This does not always happen as some films are only a hour and a half long like the childrens films.
I'm sorry this might put you off from coming again but we have no choice and it wont change. Unless we have a new digital projector at the cost of £80,000.00 which I don't at the moment and have no intentions too.

I do know that the multiplexes don't have an intermission so that is a option for you. Choosing them will be a shame as we do value your custom.
But I will reiterate that most people love the intermission as you don't miss anything and it gives people to stretch there legs and have a smoke if they want too and some refreshments. Especially when the film like The King's Speech, is two and a half hours long.

I hope this answers your question and please feel free to ask us if a certain film in the future will have a intermission then you can choose if you want to come to see it here or not.

Your sincerly

Just a quick thankyou to the staff of The Luxe, what a fantastic time we all
had, we heard so much about it and so we had to go and experience it for
ourselves and all i can say is "fantastic" even tho the film we watched wasnt
our cup of tea the actual cinema experience was the best we have had im am
6ft 3in i didnt have the usaul need to get out of my seat feeling which i
always get at other cinemas; your staff were friendly and very helpful and
your toilets were warm and very clean and even tho its a long drive for us
its the only cinema this family will be visiting .

Hi Guys, just wanted to say what a great time we had yesterday. We didn't
know what to expect, but as soon as we got there, we felt welcome. As soon as
you walk in the bar greets you, along with a smile. You were not rushed, or
hassled in any way. We got our drinks, and made our way to the most
comfortable seats we have ever sat in. We took our drinks in with us, and
placed them on the tables either side, and settled down to watch the film.
Where else can you do that!!! We will be coming back time, and time again.
Thank you Luxe, we wish you all the success possible.

"Just wanted to say how impressed I am with your cinema - absolutely fantastic
and a real gem for Wisbech.  Anyone opening up a new venture in this town is
obviously taking a risk, but I wish you all the luck in the world.  I am sure
it will be a great success and will certainly recommend you to all my friends
and family.  I will be back again soon.  Many thanks!"

"Not an enquiry as such, just to say how thrilled we all are with our
beautifully-restored, new, bijoux luxury cinema.  Thoroughly enjoyed my
matinee visit to see "Marley and Me" and looking 4ward to next week's matinee
showing of the much-vaunted  "Revolutionary Road".  Please keep showing these
afternoon films for those of us from out-lying villages who don't have own
transport.  Many congratulations on this fine business endeavour - it is to
be highly-applauded whole-heartedly and hopefully fully respected and
appreciated by all in the area and beyond.  With much gratitude from a
'young' senior citizen and cinema  buff! "

"First visit tonight, many thanks, nice surroundings, great balanced sound,no
nasty booms, well not on that film, felt like a 'night out' instead of being
jammed into a dark pit ( well that may appeal to some). All we need now is
the train station and Marks?"

Hi,

I just  wanted to drop you a line to say how much my wife and I thoroughly
enjoyed the  cinematic experiance at The Luxe.

We came to see Australia and sat in the premium seating and I can only say
the whole experiance was great. It is so refreshing to see that someone has
had the vision to create such a luxurious and yet a very personal cinema.

I will be recomending The Luxe to all my movie going friends as I believe you
have recaptured an experiance that has been sadly lost by many venues for
many years!

Well done!

Kind regards

Paul Lewinton

"Just a quick message to say thank you for making the Luxe into such an
awesome cinema. I came to see X-Men last night and had such a good
experience. I am from Peterborough, and have friends in Wisbech, but I can
guarantee that if you are showing a film I want to see, there is no chance
that I will be using the Showcase Cinema in Peterborough anymore.

Will you be showing the new Angels and Demons film? If so, when?

Many thanks again,

Chris"

I recently visited you cinema with my 4 children aged 6,4,3 and 1 to watch
Monsters vrs Aliens. I just wanted to tell you what a great experience. I had
I called to book my tickets, which was an easy and pleasant experience. When
I arrived I had help into the venue and help storing my pushchair away
(something I was worried I wouldnt be able to bring in and put somewhere
secure, a major problem in many places). I was shown to my seat as, the
seating was fantastic and unlike most cinemas, my bum wasn't numb after 30
minuites. The kids loved it and so did I. I think the only thing that was
slow was waiting for the tiny popcorn machine to serve the back log of people
waiting for it to make it quick enough lol.

I will definately be comming back again when the next childrens films are
shown. The prices were good and made it affordable for it to become a regular
thing. I will be knocking The Showcase in Peterborough (where we usually have
to go) on the head, and wait for it to be shown on your screen. We are just
waiting for Hannah Montana now.

I have recommended this to all my friends and family, but many are still put
off taking small children to cinemas (mainly due to facilites for
toddlers/babies ie changing, prices and pushchairs believe it or not) but
they said they wanted to take them if they could find a family friendly one.
I hope my experience will make people realise that this is not like most
other cinemas. Everyone was made to feel welcome which makes for a very
refreshing change.

Congratulations on such an achievement and I look forward to comming to see
you again very soon.
